Communication between the various DIY ISP initiatives is very important, both for technical advise and political awareness.
The FFDN is currently hosting a mailing list dedicated to DIY ISP initiatives.
Feel free to ask (precise!) technical questions, or anything else related to DIY ISPs. Do remember that it's a public mailing list with 200+ members. You can also browse the archives of the mailing list.
There is an IRC channel: #diy-isp on freenode.
Because meeting physical people is sometimes nice :)
There are non-commercial ISPs in many cities all around Europe. If you visit another city some time, why not ask the local ISP if you can drop by? Though most of them don't have an office, maybe there are still persons who can meet up with you to show you their technologies or just drink a beer and talk about DIY ISP things.
